DESCRIPTION:Provides instruction on the laws and the organizations responsible for the regulation of the transportation of hazardous materials (HM). This course is designed to train personnel to inspect HM shipments for compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations\, either on the roadside or at a carrier’s or shipper’s place of business. Participants are given opportunities to practice the job functions related to the regulation of HM.\nObjective: Upon completion of this course\, participants will understand the operational use of the Hazardous Materials Table (§172.01) as well as shipping paper and placarding requirements. They will also be introduced to FMCSA/CVSA Hazardous Materials Out-of-Service criteria.\nClass fees are waved\, and enrollment is pending MCSAP approval.\nNOTE: This class is open to LAW ENFORCEMENT agencies ONLY.  This class is NOT available for members of the public\, trucking industry or other private sectors.  Students MUST be a current CVSA certified Level 1\, 2\, or 5 inspector\, attached to a law enforcement agency\, with approval from their state point of contact to attend.\nPhysical Requirements: Must be able to bend\, stoop\, kneel\, squat\, climb and may have exposure to hazardous materials. \nRegister for this class

SUMMARY:Advanced SWAT (2026)
DESCRIPTION:The advanced SWAT training will cover a variety of topics but will focus a lot of time on weapons safety\, weapons manipulation\, and range time.  This course will also cover various clearing techniques with your primary weapons platform\, down officer recovery\, and hostage rescue.  At the conclusion of this course students will have a better understanding and more confidence of their weapons and their shooting abilities.  Students will also improve and enhance their moving techniques and have a better understanding of overall SWAT missions. Registration Deadline April 3\, 2026. Course Fee is $118.00 which includes the course book\, NFDD\, and smoke canisters. SUMMARY:Basic Sniper (2026)
DESCRIPTION:This training lays a solid educational and practical foundation for the new or veteran sniper looking to get back to the basics.  In five days\, we try to cover all the basics that a police sniper could encounter on their first callout\, as if it were scheduled to happen on Friday after graduation.  The focus of this training is on operational tactics such as field-craft\, observation\, reporting\, range estimation\, urban tactics\, and marksmanship skills with emphasis on the cold bore shot.  Other areas of instruction include policy and equipment recommendations\, the mechanics of the rifle and scope\, ballistics\, the data book\, hostage rescue engagements\, intermediate barriers\, night fire\, positional shooting\, and moving targets.  All graduates will have demonstrated proficiency at ranges of 5 to 800 yards. SUMMARY:Intermediate & Advanced Collision (2026)
DESCRIPTION:This class is for the LEO who has completed the basic accident investigation training.  Upon successful completion of this class\, participants will be able to recognize and identify evidence from the roadway\, vehicles\, and occupants; understand how to document\, preserve\, and record evidence through various collection and measuring techniques; prepare scale diagrams\, determine vehicle and occupant dynamics.  Apply formulas to calculate vehicle speeds.  Perform time/distance analysis. Form conclusions and opinions regarding the collision event. The course material uses numerous mathematical and physics formulas\, so a proficiency in Algebra is helpful.  This course prepares the student to become a collision reconstructionist.  This class is a prerequisite for the Collision Reconstruction course.  Cost for training and materials only is $25.00.  For training\, materials\, and lunch in the KHPTA cafeteria the fee is $170.00 or $789.00 for training\, materials\, 10 nights lodging and 3 meals per day (Friday is breakfast and lunch only) in the KHPTA cafeteria. The material fee includes a traffic template\, course jump drive and other necessary course materials.  This course is instructed by the KHP CHART Team. SUMMARY:Law Enforcement Fitness Coordinator Training Program
DESCRIPTION:The Law Enforcement Fitness Coordinator Training Program is designed to present the student with information concerning health and wellness\, strength and conditioning\, physical fitness assessment and testing protocol. The student will receive instruction in program design\, basic anatomy\, exercise physiology\, exercise leadership\, injury prevention\, nutrition and basic strength movements. The different techniques and methodologies presented will help the fitness coordinator develop and maintain a fitness program to meet the needs of their agency. \nPhysical Requirements:You must be in good physical condition with no medical restrictions and pass the Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB) with a 40% score; pass 1.5 mile run\, agility test\, bench press and flexibility are mandatory. DESCRIPTION:Students who successfully complete this course will be able to give expert testimony in the following areas:  derivation and origin of the commonly used speed formulas; speed of vehicles at impact using conservation of linear motion; the effect of weight shift in braking involving large trucks and buses\, including truck-tractor semi-trailer combinations; the effect of computer or anti-skid braking systems in stopping distances and braking action; the determination of direction of travel\, initial contact\, and positions of vehicles on the roadway.  This course includes extensive project work and controlled experiments to give the student first-hand experience in proving that the specific equations are accurate.  A scientific calculator is required.  Instructor(s) are from The Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM).  Cost:  Training\, lodging and meals are provided through a grant and is at no cost to your agency.  THIS TRAINING IS FOR KANSAS LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ONLY. \nPre-Requisition: Intermediate and Advanced Collision is mandatory for outside agencies and KHP personnel. \nPhysical Requirements: Some bending\, kneeling and lifting may be required to complete classwork assignments as well as classroom sitting time. \nRegister for this class

SUMMARY:ARIDE (2026)
DESCRIPTION:Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (A.R.I.D.E) is a sixteen-hour training course designed for Officer’s that are highly proficient and active in alcohol impaired driving enforcement.\nThis is advanced training for officers that have completed Standardized Field Sobriety Testing training to give them additional skills to recognize signs and symptoms of impairment from drugs other than alcohol.  The officer will be able to articulate reasonable suspicion of impairment by drugs through observation and various testing to support a probable cause arrest for DUI-Drugs and to sustain a request for a toxicology specimen for drug testing and identification.\nOfficers applying to attend the ARIDE course must be currently credentialed in SFST.  Officers attending the ARIDE training will be required to first pass a proficiency test demonstrating their skills in conducting the three SFST tests\, which are the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test\, Walk and Turn Test and the One Leg Stand Test.  Officers which are not able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the administration of the SFST Test Battery will not be permitted to complete the ARIDE course.\nARIDE is required precursor training for those officers considering applying to become Drug Recognition Experts.  In the foreseeable future\, ARIDE will most likely be a prerequisite to DRE Training\nPhysical Requirements: This course is primarily a classroom setting with no physical requirements. \nRegister for this class
