SUMMARY:Intermediate & Advanced Collision (2026)
DESCRIPTION:This class is for the LEO who has completed the basic accident investigation training.  Upon successful completion of this class\, participants will be able to recognize and identify evidence from the roadway\, vehicles\, and occupants; understand how to document\, preserve\, and record evidence through various collection and measuring techniques; prepare scale diagrams\, determine vehicle and occupant dynamics.  Apply formulas to calculate vehicle speeds.  Perform time/distance analysis. Form conclusions and opinions regarding the collision event. The course material uses numerous mathematical and physics formulas\, so a proficiency in Algebra is helpful.  This course prepares the student to become a collision reconstructionist.  This class is a prerequisite for the Collision Reconstruction course.  Cost for training and materials only is $25.00.  For training\, materials\, and lunch in the KHPTA cafeteria the fee is $170.00 or $789.00 for training\, materials\, 10 nights lodging and 3 meals per day (Friday is breakfast and lunch only) in the KHPTA cafeteria. The material fee includes a traffic template\, course jump drive and other necessary course materials.  This course is instructed by the KHP CHART Team. It is highly recommended that students bring a laptop computer with them as the course materials will be placed on a jump drive.\nPhysical Requirements: Some bending\, kneeling\, and lifting may be required to complete classwork assignments. \nRegister for this class

SUMMARY:ARIDE (2026)
DESCRIPTION:Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (A.R.I.D.E) is a sixteen-hour training course designed for Officer’s that are highly proficient and active in alcohol impaired driving enforcement.\nThis is advanced training for officers that have completed Standardized Field Sobriety Testing training to give them additional skills to recognize signs and symptoms of impairment from drugs other than alcohol.  The officer will be able to articulate reasonable suspicion of impairment by drugs through observation and various testing to support a probable cause arrest for DUI-Drugs and to sustain a request for a toxicology specimen for drug testing and identification.\nOfficers applying to attend the ARIDE course must be currently credentialed in SFST.  Officers attending the ARIDE training will be required to first pass a proficiency test demonstrating their skills in conducting the three SFST tests\, which are the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test\, Walk and Turn Test and the One Leg Stand Test.  Officers which are not able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the administration of the SFST Test Battery will not be permitted to complete the ARIDE course.\nARIDE is required precursor training for those officers considering applying to become Drug Recognition Experts.  In the foreseeable future\, ARIDE will most likely be a prerequisite to DRE Training\nPhysical Requirements: This course is primarily a classroom setting with no physical requirements. \nRegister for this class
