Continuing Education

This program is based upon the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations Radar Instructor and Radar Operations course.  It will instruct students in proper setup, testing, and accurate operation of radar instruments used by law enforcement agencies. Technical radar information such as Doppler principal, operational theory, and radar effects (health issues associated with radar operations) and legal considerations are included.  Class limit is 30.  Instructors will be from the Kansas Highway Patrol. Students will need to bring a laptop to class as course materials will be on a flash drive.

Prerequisites: To register students must have 3 years practical experience as a certified traffic radar operator.

Physical Requirements: This course is classroom based with no physical requirements.

Cost: Course fee is $6.50 for training materials.

Accommodations: Lodging and meals are available at the Kansas Highway Patrol Training Academy for $272.06 or $60.24 for lunch only option.
