The SWAT basic training is designed to give new operators the confidence and knowledge to start their SWAT career.  It will teach a multitude of topics to include multiple clearing techniques (2×2, deliberate entry, breach and hold, contain and callout, dynamic entry etc.) SWAT equipment and use, mindset, communication, high risk warrant service, barricaded subjects, hostage rescue, active countermeasures, range drills, inner perimeter, emergency response team, large structure clearing, less lethal use, and vehicle deployment techniques.  The course will also go over different breaching techniques, specialty equipment, K9 integration, and negotiators.  Simulations will be integrated into the SWAT training curriculum to provide a realistic training experience.    REGISTRATION DEADLINE: March 5, 2026. Course Fee is $208.00 which includes the course book and simunition. Physical Requirements: This training is considered a high-risk firearms training.  Student must be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, low crawl and some sprinting or running may be required.  Training is conducted in all weather conditions.  Student must be prepared physically and properly equipped.  Please contact LT Chris Beas at Christopher.Beas@ks.gov for class questions.
