Troop T – Aircraft
The Kansas Highway Patrol provides airborne public safety services to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and emergency service agencies in the State of Kansas.
- Troop T provides support on missions such as:
- Search and rescue
- Searches for missing persons
- Vehicle pursuits
- Counter-drug missions
- Natural disaster assessment and response
- Infrastructure patrol and emergency assessment and response
- Emergency blood relay flights
- Manhunts
- Active shooters
- Surveillance and evidence gathering
- Traffic enforcement
- Transporting vital equipment, personnel, and assets

Aircraft Assets
The Patrol has aircraft based in Topeka, Wichita, and Hays. The agency maintains a Bell 407 helicopter, a fixed-wing Cessna 182 RG, and three fixed wing Cessna 206s. The helicopter and 2 of the 206s are equipped with Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR), which allows pilots to see at night by sensing body heat, making it a valuable tool in searching for persons.
