Ignition Interlock Program

Mission

The mission of the Kansas Highway Patrol Ignition Interlock Program is to enhance public safety through reducing subsequent drinking and driving behavior by administrating and regulating impaired driving breath alcohol in the state of Kansas.

About the Program

Kansas Highway Patrol and Kansas Department of Revenue regulate the ignition interlock device industry within Kansas.

The following information is offered to help people make an informed decision when selecting an ignition interlock device to install in their vehicle.

About Ignition Interlock Device approval

The Kansas Ignition Interlock Vendor Compliance Program (IIVCP) certifies ignition interlock devices every three years and publishes a list of ignition interlock manufacturers approved in Kansas. The list includes manufacturer contact information, including a toll-free phone number to call for installation information. The list of approved ignition interlock providers appears in a random order and rotates every month.

The Kansas Highway Patrol and the State of Kansas does not endorse any manufacturer, service center or device.

Technicians

Ignition interlock providers are approved by the Ignition Interlock Vendor Compliance Program (IIVCP) every two years.

No person may perform any service related to any device without approval. Kansas state law specifically prohibits any person from making an overt or conscious attempt to physically disable, disconnect or circumvent an ignition interlock device, unless certified pursuant to Kansas rules and regulations or statutes.
