This class is for the LEO who has completed the basic accident investigation training.  Upon successful completion of this class, participants will be able to recognize and identify evidence from the roadway, vehicles, and occupants; understand how to document, preserve, and record evidence through various collection and measuring techniques; prepare scale diagrams, determine vehicle and occupant dynamics.  Apply formulas to calculate vehicle speeds.  Perform time/distance analysis. Form conclusions and opinions regarding the collision event. The course material uses numerous mathematical and physics formulas, so a proficiency in Algebra is helpful.  This course prepares the student to become a collision reconstructionist.  This class is a prerequisite for the Collision Reconstruction course.  Cost for training and materials only is $25.00.  For training, materials, and lunch in the KHPTA cafeteria the fee is $135.00 or $605.00 for training, materials, 10 nights lodging in the KHPTA dorm and 3 meals per day (Friday is breakfast and lunch only) in the KHPTA dorm.  Materials fee includes traffic template, course jump drive and other necessary course materials.  This course is instructed by the KHP CHART Team. It is highly recommended that students bring a laptop computer with them as the course materials will be placed on a jump drive.
Physical Requirements: Some bending, kneeling, and lifting may be required to complete classwork assignments.
