KHP 2023-15: KHP Pursuit Ends in Crash in Sedgwick County

On July 5, 2023, at approximately 1039am, Kansas Highway Patrol dispatch received an attempt to locate broadcast from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office regarding a shooting suspect that had fled the scene in Butler County. The suspect was reported to be driving a white 2008 Ford F-150 pickup, which was last seen traveling west on K-254 Highway towards Sedgwick County. At approximately 1045am, a Trooper with the Kansas Highway Patrol saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle near K-254 Highway and Greenwich and a traffic stop was initiated.

The pickup fled and a pursuit was initiated. At 1046am, a Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention in the 5300 block of North Webb Rd. The pickup struck a sign in the parking lot of 5039 N. Webb Rd.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Ford F-150 was pronounced deceased. There were no other occupants in the pickup and no other injuries reported.

The Kansas Highway Patrol Critical Highway Accident Response Team was called to the scene, and this crash remains under investigation at this time. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office will be investigating the prior shooting incident.
